This hand-moulded facing brick is made from Limburger löss clay from the Kesselt tableland in the valley of the Meuse and revalue with raw materials from the Volcanic Eifel.
The facade bricks (non-perforated) have fi ve sand covered sides and one oblong groove. The structure looks rugged with fi ne and irregular grooves in the sandy surface. The baking process takes place in a gas-heated tunnel oven under slightly reduced atmos- phere.
The brick has an ochre base. The various types of sand are responsible for calcareous sediment slightly diminishing the ochre colour. The colour variations contain ochre shadings alternated with white, purple-anthracite and pink shadings.
