Description
Ares - The marvelous gray brick. These hand-moulded facing bricks are made from Löss from Limburg, extracted from the plateau of Kesselt in the Meuse valley and revalued with raw materials from the Volcanic Eifel.
Pressure
The facing brick (non-perforated) is sanded on five sides and provided with an oblong sloping groove on one flat side. The structure has a rough appearance with fine and irregular grooves in the sandy surface. The baking process is done in a gas-fired tunnel kiln under slightly reducing atmosphere.
Color
The homogeneous mixture of a precise proportion of manganese dioxide in the clay results in a light-grey brick. The different types of sand provide colours that vary from white to grey, interspersed with light grey and dark shades in defined proportions, in which the white deposits are clearly present. The typical retro structure of the brick is obtained by applying a special ageing process.
