Description
Mystical black. The Chronos hand-moulded facing brick is part of the Hammered range of Nelissen Brickworks. The facing brick (non-perforated) is sanded on five sides and may be provided with an elongated oblique notch on one flat side. The structure has a rugged appearance with irregular ribs in the sanding. The baking process is carried out in a gas-fired tunnel furnace under slightly reduced pressure. The rugged retro look of this brick is obtained by using a special ageing process. A black brick is obtained by homogeneous mixing of a precisely determined percentage of manganese dioxide with grey-red baked loess. The colour varies from mainly anthracite to coal black, with blue and brown nuances and white deposits visible. The ageing process also influences the colour shades.
